On 19 August 2026, our lives changed forever when we unexpectedly lost our beloved Raylene P. Turck, wife, Mommy, daughter, sister, family member and friend.

Born on 17 November 1963, Raylene lived a life filled with love, family, laughter and an enormous amount of personality. Anyone who knew her knew that she had an incredibly big heart. She loved deeply and wholeheartedly, sometimes overwhelmingly so, but that was simply Mommy. When she cared about you, you knew it.

She worried about the people she loved, protected them, checked on them, gave advice whether it was requested or not, and always wanted to know what was happening in everyone's lives. Her family was incredibly important to her.

Raylene shared 43 years of marriage with her husband, Hugo. Together they built a life and family filled with experiences, challenges, laughter and countless memories. Losing his wife and life partner after so many years together leaves a tremendous emptiness.

To her sons, she was Mommy. She was a constant presence in their lives — loving, protective, involved and unmistakably herself. There will never be another Mommy quite like her.

She was also a beloved daughter and sister, and over the years became family to many people who were not connected to her by blood. That was part of Raylene's gift: her heart had room for people.

There are so many ordinary things that suddenly feel extraordinary now.

  • We will miss hearing her voice.
  • We will miss that unmistakable laugh.
  • We will miss her stories and opinions.
  • We will miss her checking in.

And we will especially miss those big, warm hugs that only Mommy could give.

Although our hearts are broken, we do not want Raylene's story to be defined by the day we lost her.

We want to remember the 62 years of life that came before it — the people she loved, the people who loved her, the laughter she shared, the memories she created and the many lives she touched along the way.

That is why we have chosen to say goodbye with A Colourful Celebration of Life — something filled with flowers, colour, photographs, stories and laughter, because that feels much more like Raylene than a room filled only with sadness.

We find comfort in our faith and in believing that Mommy is now at peace in Heaven and that this goodbye is not forever.

To everyone whose life Raylene touched, we invite you to help us preserve her story. Please share a favourite photograph, a beautiful memory, a funny story or simply something about Raylene that still makes you smile.

Those memories are precious to us now and will help keep her story alive for generations to come.

Raylene's big heart, beautiful laugh, warm hugs and the love she gave so freely will forever remain part of us.

Rest peacefully, Mommy.

# A Colourful Celebration of Life ## In Loving Memory of Raylene P. Turck **17 November 1963 – 19 August 2026** **Saturday, 29 August 2026 | 11:00 AM** **SAVF Fannie Lombaard Hall** ### Forever Loved • Forever Remembered *Today we celebrate a beautiful life, a big heart, a colourful personality, and a woman who touched the lives of so many.* --- # Welcome Today we gather not only to mourn the passing of **Raylene P. Turck**, but to celebrate the remarkable woman she was and the life she shared with us. Raylene had a big heart and an unmistakable personality. She loved deeply, laughed freely, cared fiercely, and was never afraid to make her presence known. She was a wife, a mother, a family member and a friend, but those simple titles cannot fully describe what she meant to the people who loved her. Today is about remembering all of her — the laughter, the stories, the hugs, the colourful moments, the difficult moments, the lessons, and above all, the love. We invite everyone here today to remember Raylene as she lived: **with colour, personality and heart.** --- # Order of Service ### Welcome & Entrance **Instrumental Music** Family and friends are welcomed as we gather together to celebrate Raylene's life. ### Opening & Welcome A welcome to family and friends and opening of the Celebration of Life. ### Song **“Days of Elijah”** ### Message of Comfort & Hope A message of faith, comfort, remembrance and hope. ### Celebration of Life Slideshow **Raylene – A Life in Pictures** Photographs and memories celebrating the different chapters of Raylene's life — her family, friendships, adventures, laughter and the moments that made her who she was. ### Tributes & Memories **From Raylene's Sons and Family** Personal memories and tributes celebrating Mom and the special place she held in our family. ### Words of Thanks **Evan and Family** ### Closing Final words and farewell. ### Exit Music **“The Bongo Song”** A final piece of music chosen to celebrate Raylene in the spirit in which she lived — with personality, energy and joy. --- # Her Life ## Raylene P. Turck ### 17 November 1963 – 19 August 2026 Raylene's story cannot simply be measured by the years between two dates. Her life is better measured by the people she loved, the family she built, the friendships she made, the laughter she created, and the memories she leaves behind. She shared **43 years of marriage with Hugo**, building a life and family together through all the seasons that life brought their way. As a mother, Raylene loved her sons deeply. Her love could be strong, protective and sometimes wonderfully overwhelming — because when Raylene loved someone, she loved them with her whole heart. She had a way of making herself part of people's lives. She cared. She worried. She laughed. She gave advice. She hugged. She helped. And she loved. There was nothing quiet or ordinary about the way Raylene cared for her family and the people around her. She had a **big heart**. And it is perhaps that heart that we will miss most. --- # Remembering Mom There are so many things we will remember. Her laughter. Her warm hugs. Her colourful personality. The way she cared about people. The way she could make her opinion known. The way she worried about everyone. The way she wanted to know what was happening in our lives. And, sometimes, the way she could drive us completely crazy — because she loved us so much. Those are the memories that make a person real. Today, we do not want to remember only the sadness of losing Mom. We want to remember **her**. We want to remember the stories that make us laugh. The moments that make us smile. The things she said. The things she did. And all those little memories that suddenly mean so much more. Her life mattered. She touched more people than she probably ever realised. And although we would have wanted more time, we are incredibly grateful for the time we had. --- # From Her Family **Mom,** There are no words big enough for a goodbye like this. You were such a huge part of our lives that it is difficult to imagine the world continuing without you in it. There are things we still wanted to say. Places we still wanted to go. Stories we still wanted to tell you. And moments we thought we still had ahead of us. But today we choose to be grateful. Grateful that we got to call you Mom. Grateful for every hug. Every laugh. Every phone call. Every piece of advice — even the advice we didn't ask for. Every disagreement. Every celebration. And every ordinary day that we now realise was extraordinary simply because you were there. We will carry you with us. In the stories we tell. In the things you taught us. In the traditions we continue. And in the love we have for one another. **We love you, Mom.** This is not where your story ends. It simply becomes part of ours. --- # Thank You On behalf of **Hugo, Evan, Rualt, Rudolph, Sanele and the entire family**, we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has supported us following Raylene's passing. Thank you for every telephone call, WhatsApp message, prayer, flower, contribution, meal, hug and act of kindness. Thank you to those who travelled to be here. Thank you to everyone who helped us make today's Celebration of Life possible. And thank you to each person who loved Raylene and allowed her to become part of your story. Your presence here today means more to our family than we can adequately express. --- # Please Stay With Us Following the service, family and friends are warmly invited to remain for **coffee, tea, juice and refreshments**. Please don't feel that today needs to be quiet. Tell the stories. Share the photographs. Remember the funny moments. Laugh. Cry if you need to. And help us celebrate the woman we loved. --- # In Loving Memory **Raylene P. Turck** **17 November 1963 – 19 August 2026** *Your life was a blessing.* *Your memory a treasure.* *You are loved beyond words* *and missed beyond measure.* ### Forever in our hearts.

Vir my liewe Raylene ❤️

En vir my was jy soveel meer as net ’n maatjie… jy was ook my seuns se mammie.

Rus sag, my liewe Raylene.
Tot ons mekaar eendag weer sien… 🕊️❤️

Jy sal nooit vergeet word nie.

While I didn't have a chance to meet her in person I feel like I knew her as I heard so many stories from Evan, Shannon and Stuart. I wish I could have heard her laugh as from what I've gathered it was hard to miss and brought smiles to others. My condolences go out to the entire family.

Kimberly Doan Sister-in-law to Evan

Although I never had the opportunity to meet Raylene, I have had the privilege of meeting her sons. Knowing them has given me a glimpse into the woman she was and, in many ways, has brought me closer to knowing her.

The love, kindness, strength, and care that Raylene gave throughout her life will continue to shine through her sons. In the way they carry themselves, love others, and move through the world, her spirit lives on.

While I wish I could have known Raylene personally, I feel fortunate to know the pieces of her that live on in her children. Through them, her memory will remain alive, her love will continue to touch others, and her spirit will never be forgotten.

With heartfelt sympathy and remembrance.
Kimberly

Sylvia Dotson Mom in law to Evan

I met Raylene when Evan and Shannon got married. She welcomed Shannon’s father and I with open arms. What a loving, warm person with a million dollar smile. She could light up a dark sky.
Over the years she made me several adorable dolls that I cherish. She found out I collected dolls and was sweet enough to create them for me.
Raylene has left quite a legacy. Many broken hearts are left, but many smiles when they think of her. I am honored to be one of those people.
I know where she is, and she is looking down on each and everyone she has touched.
